tAble Talk Tuesday

We all know it is hard to bring God up in conversation. It is our hope that these simple questions will help you bring God into conversations and share a simple truth from scripture with your friends and family.
February 18
Talk: How do you decide what to do when 2 people say you should do opposite things? How would you decide what to do if God said to do one thing and your friends/family said to do another?

Text: Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice. Now therefore, please pardon my sin and return with me that I may bow before the Lord.” 1 Samuel 15:24-25

Truth: When we choose what others say over God it is a sin. God is the one that speaks truth all the time and we must follow Him.
January 7
Talk: How do you know if something is dead or not? What does it mean to be dead in your sin?

Text: And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— Ephesians 2:1-2

Truth: When we disobey God we are dead in sin, but the good news is that He sent Jesus to save us. Read about this good news in Ephesians 2:8-10
January 14
Talk:
In what areas of the world do you see disunity? In what areas do you see unity? Do you see unity or disunity in the Church?

Text: And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. Ephesians 2:17-18

Truth: Those who believe in Jesus Christ are united because of that faith.

January 21
Talk: What do you want to do when you grow up? When did you figure out that? What do you think God created you to do?

Text: And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, Ephesians 4:11-13

Truth: God created you for a purpose and you will live the best life when you are living within that call!
January 28

Talk: How’s your relationship with your parents/children? How would you describe your relationship with your spouse/gf/bf?

Text: Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:1-4

Truth: God has a design for all relationships. It begins with divine love, respect and honor.
February 4
Talk: Who do you turn to when things seem impossible? Have you ever made a promise to God if He would do something for you? What was that promise? Do you believe God can do the impossible?

Text: “Not so, my lord,” Hannah replied, “I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the Lord. Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief.”1 Samuel 1:15-16

Truth: God is the God of possible and longs to hear our genuine prayer of trust and reliance on Him.
February 11
Talk: If you could follow anyone who would it be? If you follow that person what impacts would it have on your life? What would your life look like if you followed God?

Text: According to all the deeds that they have done, from the day I brought them up out of Egypt even to this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are also doing to you. Now then, obey their voice; only you shall solemnly warn them and show them the ways of the king who shall reign over them.” 1 Samuel 8:8-9

Truth: Following God comes with blessings, Following something else comes with consequences.

February 18
