TAble Talk Tuesday

We all know it is hard to bring God up in conversation. It is our hope that these simple questions will help you bring God into conversations and share a simple truth from scripture with your friends and family.
Talk: How would you describe God?

Text: He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. Colossians 1:15

Truth: If we want to know God we just need to look at Jesus and how He lived.

Past Questions:

Talk: What does the good life look like?
Text: Haggai 2:18-19 Consider from this day onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month. Since the day that the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid, consider: Is the seed yet in the barn? Indeed, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have yielded nothing. But from this day on I will bless you.”
When did God bless them?
Truth: Blessing comes as you surrender your time, talents and treasures to God.
Talk: What makes someone a good example? Do you consider yourself a good example? Why or why not?
Text: Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12
How are you doing at being an example?
Truth: No matter what your age, God wants to be an example right now.
Talk: How do you know if what you are doing is right or wrong? How do you define sin?
Text: No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
Truth: We all will face temptation, God determines what sin is, and God will always provide a way to be obedient to Him.
Talk: What do you think happens after you die? How do you go to heaven?
Text: James 4:14 Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
Truth: We don’t know how long our life will be. Believe in Jesus today!
Talk: What did you do this last Sunday? Why did you choose to do those things?
Text: And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25
Truth: What we do on Sunday matters! How can we better honor God with our choices each and everyday?
Talk: What do you believe about Jesus?  What do you believe about God?
Text: Mark 8:31 “He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.”
Truth: Jesus Christ lived a perfect life, willingly surrendered His life in your place, and came back to life to defeat sin and death.
Talk: What is Holy Week (If they don’t know explain to them what this week is all about)?  What is the most meaningful day of Holy week to you and why?

Truth:  Jesus Christ rose from the dead. The empty tomb signifies victory over sin for all who believe. This changes not just life, but the life to come.
Talk: How long do you think this world will exist?  What do you think will cause the end of the world?
Text: They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. 2 Peter 3:4-7
Truth: Jesus will come back, do you know Him?
Talk: What is the purpose of life?
Text: But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body. 1 Corinthians 12:18-20
Truth: God created you to use the gifts that he has given you for his glory.
Talk: What is your story (Tell me about your life)?

Truth: Our story needs to be the story of what God has done in us.
Talk: Who was Jesus? What impact does that have on your life?
Text: I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
Truth: Jesus died and rose again to save all who will believe and because of that gift of life I now live fully sent for Him!
Talk: What’s the most expensive thing you have bought? How much debt would you go into to buy what you wanted?
Text: For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.” Galatians 3:10-11

Truth: We can all use prayer and we are all called to pray. Let’s commit to praying for each other.
Talk: Who are you living for? Are you afraid to die? What do you think happens after you die?
Text: For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.  But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account. Philippians 1:21-24

Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel, Colossians 1:3-5
Truth: We should be thankful for the hope we have in Christ and that should lead us to live in faith and love.
